Last night the team at WH hosted an event for our referring dentists as a way of thanking them for sending their patients to us for specific treatments. As we have it all under one roof, dentists from all over the county refer their patients to us. Whether they need to see Lama our Periodontist for gum treatment or surgery, Raquel our Endodontist for complex Root Canal treatment, Caroline for anti-wrinkle treatments, or Nick our Prosthodontist for Implants, surgery, crowns, veneers or dentures. We have it all under one roof!
We hosted a James Bond themed night at The Forbury Hotel in Reading, with Martini’s (shaken not stirred) on arrival, food, and the chance to watch a 007 film in their private cinema(popcorn included). It was a great chance to meet up with the dentists, and especially great to put names to faces. The night was great and I hope all enjoyed watching Daniel Craig do his 007 thing. I sure did! We will be holding regular events for our Ivory Club members throughout the year. We love to hear feedback, both positive and negative, regarding our events, and would love to hear any suggestions you may have for the next meeting. Nick and Sarah are also thinking of organising a “study club” for dentists, so i will keep you posted.
The team at Woodborough House would like to thank our colleagues for thinking of us when treating your patients, and thank you for attending our evening. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We spent a lovely, sunny, Sunday helping celebrate our dentist Sen’s wedding this weekend. A few of us travelled to his neck of the woods, to help celebrate their marriage. The venue was amazing, Sen and Suba both looked gorgeous, and the whole event was great. Sen didn’t look too impressed when i stood up during the ceremony to give him a big wave. I just wanted him to know we were there to support him
We all had a lovely day. Nick was deaf in one ear from the music as we were sat right near the speaker, Pauline stole a banana (she claims she was hungry) and I was so busy stuffing my face with the gorgeous food that i spilt it down my dress. Good times!
We want to wish all the best to Sen and Suba for the future. I hope they will be having a fab time on their honeymoon. Im sure he wont be reading my blog while he is sunning himself on a beach somewhere glamourous, so I can admit…………………..I do miss him a bit already. See you soon Sen x

2 weeks ago I became a very proud aunt to my little nephew Olly. Yesterday I went to see him, and unfortunately the poor little devil is suffering with oral thrush. Luckily my sister had a geek like me around to fill her in on all the details about the the signs and symptoms. Oral thrush is a fungal infection that particularly affects young babies, older patients and the terminally ill in particular. The clinical features include thick, white patches (like curds) on the tongue, cheeks, lips and palate. It is treated using anti fungal drugs (either in a oral suspension or pastilles). It was fun trying to feed a 2 week year old medication that smelt like marzipan! The faces he pulled was hilarious, but it will clear up in no time with the drops he is taking. Lets hope he gets better very soon, and my sister gets a better nights sleep.

After a very stressful and very long journey, Nick is back from his travels. Nick went to Geneva last Wednesday to take part in a very big, annual convention run by the ITI(International Team for Implantology). Dentists, Surgeons, and Specialists from all over the globe meet at these conventions to learn more from each other in regards to implants and implantology. After the drama of the volcano erupting in Iceland, and all airports being closed, Nick was stranded in Geneva. He managed to hire a car, drive to Paris and then catch a train to Calais. He then had to sit in wait for a place on the ferry in order to get back to the UK. Poor Nick! He hasn’t even got time to recover from the long haul trip as he is back in surgery busy with patients tomorrow. Don’t worry Nick, we will have the coffee and Red Bull on stand by

One of the benefits of working at a dental practice is that we do get the opportunity to have our teeth fixed, whitened and straightened. Today our receptionist Sarah G and our nurse Sara are continuing treatment with Mark to help straighten their teeth, so I thought I would give you a little progress report on how they are getting on. Both girls are getting married this year, so they want the perfect smile to walk down the eisle with. They have both already whitened their teeth, and now they are both wearing Invisalign braces. Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your dental practitioner.
Sarah G is having what we call in the trade IPR (inter-proximal reduction) today. With Invisalign, in order to make space for teeth that need to move and rotate, small discs and instruments are used to “shave” minimal amounts of enamel off either sides of certain teeth. This makes very small spaces for the teeth to move to their straighter position. Sara has not long had her Invisalign alighners in (she is on week 3) and her appointment today is to have small attachments added to certain teeth. A white composite material is used to help anchor and pull teeth to a new position. They are bearly noticeable! Both our girls are so pleased with the progress so far. See if you can spot them next time you are in, and have a chat with them about Invisalign.
If you are interested in teeth whitening, straightening, Invisalign or even fixed braces please talk to one of our dental professionals. They will be more than happy to help

Me and Sarah waved goodbye to one of our favourite patients today, as she is moving away due to work commitments. She has always wanted to act, and as a mature student she did just that! We have watched her flourish into a budding actress. All the girls at WH even went to see her in theatre in her play “Dinner ladies” and she was fab!! It has been lovely treating her, and seeing her at her dental exams. She will be very much missed here at WH. I did tell her that she needs to sign up to Twitter and Facebook so we can “Tweet” her and follow her through her career. We can also find out then, if our fillings are holding out!!
All of us at Woodborough House want to wish her the best of luck for the future, and I am sure we will see her on stage and screen many times to come

I want to start today’s blog by saying a very very massive congratulations to our Sen!! He got married yesterday to lovely Suba yesterday. As Sen’s nurse, I have seen the romance blossom from the beginning, and they make the most beautiful couple. Now Sen, has to put up with two women, both at home and at work, nagging him! Hee Hee. All his patients have been watching the build up to the big day, so we can now fill them in with all the gossip.
From all of us at Woodborough House we want to wish them all the best for the future. We are now all looking forward to his ceremony to help them celebrate their marriage!

All of the dentists at Woodborough House have been busy with new patient exams today. As WH is growing and all the team are making the practice a more relaxed and comfortable place to visit, we have more appointments and time to spend with new, and existing patients. Here at Woodborough House we offer a new patient consultation at a price of £79. This includes a thorough dental examination, soft tissue examination, radiographs and dental advice. The dentists can also provide you with information and advice regarding any of our cosmetic treatments, including tooth whitening, implants and invisible braces. We have extended our opening times, to make booking an appointment easier for you, and we are also running a later evening (until 8pm) the last Thursday of every month. There’s no excuse now!
We pride ourselves in excellent customer care, and we want our existing patients to recommend us to any friends and family who are looking for a new dentist. We will also be rewarding our patients if they do recommend us to anyone. Shout about us, and see what gifts and goodies you may receive! We have already given out bottles of wine, gift vouchers and cinema tickets.
If you have any questions, queries, or would like to book an appointment with one of our dentist then please call out reception team or email us. We also have patient co-ordinators, Cathy and Hayley, that can run speak to you in more detail regarding any particular treatments. This is a free of charge, short consultation, and they will be willing to answer any of your questions regarding treatments and the practice.

Yipee!! Its Easter time, and I am sure all of you (and us) are looking forward to a nice long break. Not too many sweet treats! Sarah and Laura saw a couple of their patients that are big motorbike enthusiasts. They are doing a big trip around Africa on their bikes. Sarah managed to get them both dentally fit before their time away. We even gave them an emergency dental kit as a going away present. Just in case they need it while they are in the depths of the desert with a broken tooth! From all of us at WH we want to wish them a safe and pleasant trip, and will look forward to hearing about their travels when they are back.
We also want to say a HUGE congratulations to our very favourite 9 year old patient, who has been working very hard at his cricket skills, and got into the cricket team he has been training for. Well done!! We will be supporting him all the way. He better remember me when he’s rich and famous! I held his hand when we gave him an injection
I also hope he wears his mouthguard. We don’t want any cricket balls or bats ruining that cheeky smile.
Have a lovely Easter and we look forward to seeing you all soon

Today was the launch day of our later evening. As mentioned in a previous blog, we will be doing a late evening, until 8pm, on the last Thursday of every month. I am pleased to say that today’s evening has been a success! We decided, as a practice, that opening for longer will be beneficial for our patients as it makes coming here a little easier. Getting time off work, and fitting in dental appointments around the school run is always tricky, so we hope that this small change will keep all our patients happy and attending the dentist regularly. We have been busy seeing children for their routine check ups, tooth aches, and patients having fillings. We also have had our Hygienist Helen working her magic.I must say, it is very strange being here at this time of the day, seeing as I’m usually watching Eastenders right now
If you are interested in seeing your dentist or hygienist later in the day, please contact our reception team. They will be more than willing to help
