Root Canal Crazy!!

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Today at the practice, we have been bombarded with tooth aches! It always seems to be around this time of year that people start to suffer. This shows just how important regular dental examinations are. Our patients have been coming in complaining of pain on biting, being woken at night, or dull aches. Nae was able to take radiographs and diagnose the problem tooth or teeth. Many people become extremely nervous when the word “root canal” is mentioned, but this may be because they may not know exactly what it involves. Root Canal is basically dis-infecting and cleaning the tooth. Small instruments are used to help clean out the tooth and a rubber material is used to fill the root canal. We have the great advantage of having Raquel, our in house Endodontist. She has a special interest in endodontics, and has treated our most complex cases with great success. She is lovely, and all the WH Team are so pleased she has joined us. We want to keep you all smiling, so providing our patients with the highest professional care is one of the ways we can achieve this.  If you have any questions regarding root canal treatment then please ask our team.

Christmas is coming!

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Today is the arrival of the Woodborough House Christmas tree.  The nurses are very excited about their yearly ritual of decorating the tree and getting it ready for the Pangbourne village open evening next Friday 11th of December.  The entire village opens their doors after hours and has lovely wine and cheese to offer passers by.  We invite all of our patients to come on down to share in some Christmas cheer and not to mention this year there will be a big surprise at the practice, one that all the children will absolutly love, so don’t miss it!  If you would like a tour of the practice just ask one of our members of staff.  We hope to see you there!  The WH team.

Sens number one!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

We had a lovely testimonial today from a lady from Guildford.  This patient was commenting on our newest young associate Sen. Sen made her feel like she was his number one patient.  ‘He is so well mannered, charming and genuine. He really made me feel special and his number one priority. It’s a rare thing to see such manners in young people these days and the age of chivalry is not dead!’.  That’s our Sen!

a new tooth!

It has been flat out here at the practice over the last few days!  We have had Lama, our periodontist busy treating periodontal disease , Nick has been placing implants left, right and centre not to mention the everyday goings on in the general practice.  One of our implant patients came to see us all the way from Buckinghamshire, she needed a new front tooth.  After much discussion and careful planning she received her new tooth yesterday.  She has to wait a few weeks before she gets her real tooth but is already overjoyed with just the temporary.  She found the procedure painless, not to mention she took a liking to our oral sedation!  She is very excited about getting married next year and now she will look the part and no longer feel self conscious about her smile.  For more information on dental implants  call us…….. and remember we keep you smiling!

Nervous Nelly

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Today we treated a lovely young lady from Newbury who hadn’t visited a dentist in several years.  This patient, along with many others, had a traumatic childhood experience and this has affected her dental treatment throughout her life. Today was her final treatment through a long series of appointments.  When treatment began we advised our patient to try some oral sedation.  This lady was determined to over come her fear and with courage and a lot of support from our dentists and staff this patient has done it!  She has managed to complete her treatment and over come her fear.  She left us today feeling happy and proud.  We will be seeing her regularly for check ups and hygienists visits. Well done Nelly from all the team at Woodborough House!
