Botox

Woodborough House Dental Practice offers BOTOX® Cosmetic to our patients who want to reinvigorate their appearance. In addition, we promote several other modern rejuvenation methods, including Isolagen injections and Restylane® treatments. Though these products are available elsewhere, at Woodborough House we can treat your total appearance and save time by allowing us to erase those worrisome wrinkles and lines while we attend to your cosmetic dentistry needs.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments are growing in popularity in the UK. We all want to look younger and healthier. Never mind the actual years, even the constant stress and fatigue associated with everyday living can age your face prematurely. BOTOX® Cosmetic allows the professionals at Woodborough House to refine your appearance with an injectable, purified botulinum toxin. When BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the wrinkles, the toxin proceeds to relax the muscles of the injected area, smoothing the skin and seeming to miraculously halt — and even reverse — the ageing process.

BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments are very safe. Typically, anaesthetics are not required, because the injection is delivered with an ultra-thin needle and in small doses. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections disrupt nerve signals to the muscles. The muscles then are allowed to relax, permitting the wrinkles to smooth out. Usually noticeable in two to three days, the effects can last up to six months, fading gradually from there. Repeated treatments provide for more prolonged results extending the time between injections.

BOTOX® Cosmetic was originally used by ophthalmologists 10 years ago to relax muscles around the eyes. Since then BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used on tens of thousands of patients in the UK and abroad for an array of conditions.

Today, BOTOX® Cosmetic is seeing more use as a cosmetic enhancement. Some of the areas for which it is effective include:

  • Wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet)
  • Frown lines
  • Wrinkled forehead
  • Sides of the nose
  • Lower eyelids
  • Neck
  • Upper lip

Restylane®

Developed in Sweden, Restylane® treatments can temporarily reverse the aging process for our patients. Restylane® uses a natural, biodegradable material to combat the thinning of the natural collagen fibre layer that supports our skin. As we age, this layer begins to break down, allowing the skin to sag and wrinkle.

Restylane® is a thick, transparent gel derived from non-animal, stabilized hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found in the skin as a vital structural component. Restylane® returns skin contour by adding volume to the tissue.

Restylane® is injected into the problem area using a thin needle. Typically, a treatment lasts 10 to 30 minutes, and can often be administered without anaesthesia. Results of Restylane® treatments are immediate. Sometimes a follow-up injection in 2-4 weeks will be recommended, and then you can enjoy results that can last up to a year.

Many fillers similar to Restylane® are made from animal sources and therefore require batteries of skin tests to determine that there will be no adverse reactions when used on human subjects. Because Restylane® is a filler made from non-animal material, no such tests are required. Restylane® is natural and safe, and our patients will welcome the confidence that a younger, healthier look can inspire.

Isolagen

Isolagen uses your body’s own tissue to replace the natural collagen that is lost with age. A sample of your skin tissue is used to grow a culture of hearty, collagen- manufacturing cells. When the cells have matured, they are reintroduced through injection into the problem areas of your skin, where they activate the growth of new collagen. Within moments, your skin will begin to smooth as the wrinkles and lines start to fade. Over the next 18 to 24 months, the results will gradually progress and may last up to seven years in some cases.

The results associated with Isolagen are among the longest lasting of the collagen-replacing treatments available today. The procedure is safe and because the process utilizes your own tissue the chance of the body rejecting the new material is greatly reduced.

Our specialists at Woodborough House Dental Practice will address all of your questions and concerns regarding the Isolagen, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Restylane® treatments.
