Dental Implants: A Guide

It is important to remember that implants need to be treated with the same care that normal teeth require and additionally smokers need to be aware that this habit can significantly reduce the implants ability to heal and successfully attach to the jawbone.

What Can I Expect From Surgery?

Each case is different! At Woodborough House we offer Computer Guided Dental Implant placement. This allows us to place virtual implants utilising 3D X-rays of the jaw. A template is then created that shows us exactly where the implant should be placed to ensure the best possible outcome. The big advantage of this treatment is that often teeth can be placed immediately.

We offer Teeth In A Day at Woodborough House which, if appropriate for the patient, can mean a significantly reduced timescale from start to completion. An Arthroscope is used – a probe rather like an Endoscope – which is inserted into a small incision in the jaw tissue. Less scarring means reduced pain and swelling, and many patients who have elected to have the Teeth in a Day procedure find that they can do all their usual activities the next day.

We also offer All on Four for patients who require multiple restorations. In the past a complete restoration may have called for up to 12 separate implants however with this revolutionary new treatment only four implants are needed to restore a full smile.

As with any treatment you may find you experience some discomfort but we often receive feedback from our patients that it is not nearly as uncomfortable as they anticipated and the results absolutely outweigh the process.
