The Wand in Reading
Here at Woodborough House Dental Practice, we understand that many patients may experience feelings of fear and uneasiness before dental procedures. There are many causes for dental anxiety, ranging from past experiences from childhood to a fear of needles and injections. The latter is a very common phobia to suffer from, which is why we’re proud to inform you that we have invested in a new, innovate, painless injection treatment system for nervous patients – the Wand.
With the Wand, painful injections are guaranteed to be a thing of the past, so you are able to feel completely at ease during dental treatment – all you need to do is sit back and look forward to seeing amazing results!
How does the Wand work?
The Wand is essentially a pen-like needle connected to a CompuDent system. The two components work together to control the speed of the flow and stop the sudden burst of fluid that can sometimes cause injections to be painful. With the Wand, there is no stinging sensation at all.
The Wand also reduces the likelihood of numbness in the lips, face, cheek and tongue, making the whole injection experience much more comfortable for you.
Why is the Wand suitable for nervous patients?
Many people who suffer from dental anxiety feel nervous at the mere sight of a needle, but aesthetically, the want looks just like a pen, so it instantly becomes much less intimidating than an ordinary needle.
With the Wand, the risk of pain is greatly reduced as the speed and process of the injection is monitored and controlled by the CompuDent system. The system slows down the amount of fluid that comes out at a time, meaning that there is no ‘sharp sting’ at the beginning of the injection.
