Woodborough House Study Club – A Wonderful Evening.

Friday, March 22nd, 2013

Have a look at some of the photos from the Perio evening on Monday 18th March.

It was an absolutely brilliant night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We held the evening at our practice and it was a full house for Dr. Kuljeet Mehta, who delivered a great presentation on Current concepts of periodontal Assessment. It was very interesting, and we know everyone went away with some new knowledge to share.

Thank you, Dr. Mehta, and thanks to all of you who took the time to attend.

Current Concepts in Peridontal Assessment – CPD Study Evening with Dr Kuljeet Mehta.

Friday, March 15th, 2013

Next Monday, our esteemed Dr Kuljeet Mehta will be leading Woodborough House’s CPD meeting, at 6:30pm. Dr Mehta is a GDC registered specialist in periodontics and will be lecturing on methods of assessing the periodontal condition, discussing their errors and limitations. Dr Mehta also intends to demonstrate the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment planning for patients referred because of their periodontal condition. As an involving public speaker and highly experienced periodontist, Kuljeet will be sure to make the evening informative and beneficial to those in attendance. The evening qualifies for two hours verifiable CPD and is free of charge, with a buffet and drinks provided.

Needless to say, we’re very much looking forwards to the evening and hope to see everyone who registered with Leah or emailed referral@woodboroughhouse.com there. Please remember that places are limited and are booked on a first come first served basis, and so it is best to register a week before the scheduled event.

What a year 2012 was for Woodborough House!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

What a year 2012 was for the Woodborough House staff,

Although we work hard, we’ve all had such a laugh,

Congratulations to Sara and Lou,

They became first-time mummies – both bundles were blue!

Speaking of babies, Sen will soon be a Dad,

Look out for him on TV, on the Sensodyne ad!

But that’s not all, oh no, there’s one more,

Dental nurse Laura is expecting baby number 4,

After 26 years our veteran nurse left,

Good luck for the future Hayley; we wish you the best,

And welcome on board the Woodborough House way,

Our new dentist Mehdi, and new nurses Lo and Jay,

Receptionist Leah doesn’t miss a trick,

She organises all the ITI Study Clubs for Nick,

Our Nick is amazing; he takes on new tasks every day;

Last year he was made Chairman of the Reading BDA,

He’s also been the only one asked

(which is very prestigious and grand)

To give talks to dentists from all over Europe

in Basel, Switzerland.

There to make sure things all run fine and dandy,

(He’d be lost without her) is his trusty nurse, Mandy!

Our Accountant Sam has come up with a fantastic recall system;

She’s made lots of procedures much more efficient, with her pearls of wisdom!

David does cooking and running (he’s our Endodontist)

When he’s not training hard to become on the Specialist list,

Another hard-worker – congratulations to Kirsten,

She’s passed the first part of her exam for nursing!

The prize for ‘Best Hostess’ must go to Sarah, it’s true,

For throwing yet another fantastic WH Summer barbeque,

July also saw the Theale Olympic Torch kiss,

Our staff went to see it – it was one not to be missed!

There was much excitement in Woodborough House growing,

As we watched one of our patients win Bronze in the rowing!

We have our very own celeb – cosmetic dentist Mark treats the stars;

When he’s not working in his Harley Street practice, we claim his expertise at ours!

We are lucky enough to have another expert; specialist periodontist Kuljeet,

He is no match for gum disease in all the patients that he treats!

In October we had Chris Barrow’s “Discovery Day”,

He taught us how to improve our work day-to-day,

An improvement made by hygienist L’ren is very exciting,

She attended a course and now does all our tooth whitening,

Our other hygienist Helen is as knowledgeable as can be,

She has been invaluable in helping us get compliant for CQC.

Our Business Manager Karen is great; she does a lot for compliance too,

She loves her Excel spread sheets and a glamorous high-heeled shoe!

Clinical Manager Cathy is our Mummy; she has us smiling throughout the year,

Patients and staff alike would be lost if she wasn’t here!

Responsible for our new patients, she has many strings to her bow;

As Cathy also works as Woodborough House’s T.C.O!

And working closely alongside Cathy, is little old me;

I’m no William Wordsworth, that’s clear for everyone to see!

I do a little bit of admin, and a lot of work on reception,

And am mainly responsible for our online social media blog collection,

And so this poem comes to an end; my personal highlight of the year,

Was our Christmas party, full of food, booze, dancing and festive cheer!

We rounded off 2012 in a theme of 1920’s wonder,

As we turned up in style to Trunkwell House in a champagne-filled stretch hummer!

A massive thank you to Sarah and Nick for everything that you do,

And to the rest of the WH team for working hard the whole year through!

Now the time has come again after Christmas, for WH to open its door,

So let’s get to work guys and see what 2013 has in store!!

ITI Study Club Evening Tomorrow!

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

Here at Woodborough House, Dr Nick Fahey hosts ITI Study Club evenings. These study evenings have been setup to provide an effective method to disseminate knowledge in implant dentistry and promote interactive discussions among the study club members. The evenings are held at either Woodborough House or The Swan in Pangbourne. We put on a spread of food and drinks, while the local dentists from the area listen to our guest speakers who present the different information. These evenings give the dentists the opportunity to gain more knowledge in all aspects of implant dentistry.

We’re pleased to announce that our next study club is on Wednesday 20th Feb at The George Hotel in Pangbourne – 6:30pm registration, 7pm start. The topic is ‘An Update on Digital Dentistry Trends and How it Relates to Implant Dentistry in the Future’. To secure a place at this study club, Dentists and Clinicians should contact us by email referral@woodboroughhouse.com or telephone 0118 9843108 and ask for Leah.

Shaken not stirred.

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Last night the team at WH hosted an event for our referring dentists as a way of thanking them for sending their patients to us for specific treatments. As we have it all under one roof, dentists from all over the county refer their patients to us. Whether they need to see Lama our Periodontist for gum treatment or surgery, Raquel our Endodontist for complex Root Canal treatment, Caroline for anti-wrinkle treatments, or Nick our Prosthodontist for Implants, surgery, crowns, veneers or dentures. We have it all under one roof!

We hosted a James Bond themed night at The Forbury Hotel in Reading, with Martini’s (shaken not stirred) on arrival, food, and the chance to watch a 007 film in their private cinema(popcorn included). It was a great chance to meet up with the dentists, and especially great to put names to faces. The night was great and I hope all enjoyed watching Daniel Craig do his 007 thing. I sure did! We will be holding regular events for our Ivory Club members throughout the year. We love to hear feedback, both positive and negative, regarding our events, and would love to hear any suggestions you may have for the next meeting. Nick and Sarah are also thinking of organising a “study club” for dentists, so i will keep you posted.

The team at Woodborough House would like to thank our colleagues for thinking of us when treating your patients, and thank you for attending our evening. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

perio success!

Last night we held our Periodontic training evening with Lama Brown.  The evening went very well, Lama discussed all aspects of periodontics and the different ways of treating periodontal disease including non-surgical and surgical regenerative procedures.  We would like to thank everybody for coming and hope they enjoyed the evening as much as we did!  After great feedback from all of our delegates we will be organising more lectures on endodontics, dental implants and advanced cosmetic dentistry for next year.  We are also looking into running study clubs for our referring dentists and Helen, our hygienist, would like to start a study club for hygienists and dental nurses.  If you are interested please get in touch.  Likewise if you would like to receive any information about periodontal disease or any  information on Lama get in touch!
