We have made one of our 17 year old patients happy this week, by giving him a new front tooth for Christmas (excuse the pun). Like many teenage boys, he is very keen on contact sports, and unfortunately due to a sporting injury he managed to knock and chip his front tooth. Due to the accident, the front tooth started to become painful and discolour, and Raquel had to perform Root Canal Treatment on his front tooth. After this, we started to prepare a new front crown for him, as the tooth needed to be protected. After a couple of trips to see us, several impressions and “trimming” of the tooth, we were able to fit his new crown. What a difference it has made!! He even took a trip to our laboratory for a custom shade, so we were able to match the colour and appearance of the tooth exactly. He has walked out of the practice smiling again, due to a brillant crown. Let’s hope he remembers that mouth guard now when playing sport!!

It has been manic at the practice today! All the team have been working really hard to get all our patients sorted and happy before the Christmas Holidays.
Sen had a lovely lady in interested in improving her smile. She has had a crown on her front tooth, but wants to have it redone for cosmetic reasons. The only thing that is holding her back is finance. Here at Woodborough House we can offer our patients a 0% finace scheme, when treatment costs reach a certain threshold. This enables you to start treatment, but spread the cost over the year. You can use the finace to help pay for crowns, dentures, bridges, veneers, implants, and cosmetic treatment. Well, who said you can’t have a white Christmas? One of our lovely patients from Pangbourne walked through the practice door today and dazzled us all with her “pearly whites”. Every time she visits us for her 6 monthly dental check up, she always comments about having her teeth whitened. Well, she recently decided to go for it! Sarah took impressions of her teeth, sent them off to the lab, and within a week we had her bleaching trays back for her. We can not believe what a difference it has made, and she is smiling from ear to ear since she had the whitening done. Christmas 2009 will definitely be a white one for her! Woodborough House has kept her smiling.

Today we have been flat out with dental checkups. Everybody is coming in for their regular ” dental mot’s”. Sarah has even had some of her most loyal patients travel all the way from London to see her! At these check up’s we are looking at soft tissues, radiographs, old fillings and restorations, and general dental health. It is important to see us regularly as we can help prevent you needing major restorative treatment, and prevent problems from arising. We also like to touch base with our patients on a social level. We all know Sarah likes a chat!! So come and see us! Because at Woodborough House we keep you smiling!

A big congratulations to one of our younger patients who recently won gold several times for Reading in youth swimming! What an achievement! We are very proud of our young patient and look forward to following her career in swimming. Go Jordan! We also have a very excited Woodborough House receptionist today, Sarah has received her first Invisalign aligners! In eight months time she will have a perfect smile. Check them out next time you are in, that’s if you can even notice them! Invisalign keeps her smiling!

After a well deserved break Nae has returned from her honeymoon with the lovely Tom and is already back into the swing of things. Nick gave Nae a new smile makeover with porcelain veneers for her wedding. They really look fabulous and Nae can’t stop smiling! Coming soon to Woodborough House is our new dermatologist Caroline. Caroline will be offering anti-wrinkle treatments which work by refining your appearance with an injectable substance. When the anti-wrinkle treatment is injected into the wrinkles, the treatment proceeds to relax the muscles of the injected area, smoothing the skin. It has been flat out here at the practice over the last few days! We have had Lama, our periodontist busy treating periodontal disease , Nick has been placing implants left, right and centre not to mention the everyday goings on in the general practice. One of our implant patients came to see us all the way from Buckinghamshire, she needed a new front tooth. After much discussion and careful planning she received her new tooth yesterday. She has to wait a few weeks before she gets her real tooth but is already overjoyed with just the temporary. She found the procedure painless, not to mention she took a liking to our oral sedation! She is very excited about getting married next year and now she will look the part and no longer feel self conscious about her smile. Last night we held our Periodontic training evening with Lama Brown. The evening went very well, Lama discussed all aspects of periodontics and the different ways of treating periodontal disease including non-surgical and surgical regenerative procedures. We would like to thank everybody for coming and hope they enjoyed the evening as much as we did! After great feedback from all of our delegates we will be organising more lectures on endodontics, dental implants and advanced cosmetic dentistry for next year. We are also looking into running study clubs for our referring dentists and Helen, our hygienist, would like to start a study club for hygienists and dental nurses. This week we are introducing new patient assessments. This is an informal way for new patients to see our practice, meet our team and find out what we have to offer. And not to mention these appointments are free of charge! Cathy, our patient coordinator along with Hayley, one of our nurses, are organising these appointments and will be your guide to our practice.
