How long have you been working at Woodborough House?

Since June 2021.

What is your role?

I carry out two roles within the team, the first being on reception and the other on the referral side of the business. I am part time, so I work two days a week with the reception team in a patient facing role which I really enjoy, and two days a week on referrals with my colleague. Alli and I are responsible for taking care of patients who are being treated by our specialists when they are referred to Woodborough House from other dental practices or from within the Woodborough House practice. In this part of my role, we are responsible for following a patient care process, making sure patients are booked in for consultations and treatments. We have good relationships with the dental practices who are referring their patients to our specialists, many of them have been referring to us for some time. They trust their patients with us and that’s very reassuring.

What is your background and your journey to where you are now?

I have had many different roles over my career mostly in administration but also in education.  My most recent role before this was in an NHS dental practice just down the road but I had known Woodborough House for some time, as dentistry is a small world. I already had a good relationship with Cathy as we had been in touch sharing resources over the years. So when I saw the job advertised I thought I would go for it. I spoke to Sarah and had a really nice informal chat. I came in to have a trial run for an hour on reception. Two hours later I thought I’d overstayed my welcome! I was getting a feel of Woodborough House and enjoying it so much, I didn’t notice the time fly. Sarah called me that evening and offered me the job. It really felt like it was meant to be.

What is it about your job that you enjoy the most?

The variety, no one day is the same and seeing patients who have the confidence to smile again.

Where would you like your career to go next?

I feel relatively new in the team and still have much to learn. I am enjoying the referral side of the business and hope to develop my skills in this further.

What is it about the WH culture that you like?

I feel comfortable at Woodborough House, and really like the “can do” approach and attitude towards all the patients, it’s very refreshing.
