Prior to my role as business manager, I used to run my own Interior Design business, so my biggest achievement at Woodborough House to date, has to be working on the branding and refurbishment of the practice when Sarah and Nick bought it in January 2006. I had been a patient of the previous owner, John, since a child, and was recommended to Sarah and Nick by Linda, the previous Practice Manager (now retired – don’t worry, I didn’t pinch her job! :)).
Sarah and Nick had ideas of what they wanted to achieve, and I was able to take those concepts and turn them into reality. Choosing the colour scheme, the style and the “look” was great fun. Once all the mood boards had been agreed, it was all systems go! Even more fun was all the shopping for furniture, fabrics and the finishing touches!
Once the colour scheme was sorted, I brought in Gaby, from Gabrielle Creative, to work on the brand for all our paperwork, logos, business cards, website etc. Gaby did a fabulous job in creating the brand and we still love it today.
Once the refurbishment was completed, Nick then wanted a new state-of-the art surgery to undertake all his implant work. We converted the old beauty therapy room into a full dental consulting room. The project brief was, of course, clinical but high-tech and very masculine in style. The finished surgery is now core to the referral side of Woodborough House.
In 2010, Sarah and Nick asked me if I’d like help with looking after Woodborough House and I came on board as the business manager. Then in the summer of 2011 Nick needed to find room to house our new state-of-the-art scanner and gave me three weeks to get it installed! I’m happy to say we managed it, including all the specialist lead lining, and I can say a big thank you to our builder Tony in helping me make it happen for Nick and the whole practice.
Roll on my next challenge…!
