What a lovely summer we’re all having and touch wood – up until now the weather is good!

I took the opportunity to grab a four day break in Scotland in the middle of June with my boyfriend, who is also part of the Woodborough House Team. We decided to base ourselves in the beautiful west coast of Scotland, on the Clyde.

Scotland is renowned for its ‘weather’! However, we had beautiful sunshine for the whole stay… can’t say the same for the midges!!!

It had been many years since both of us had been to Scotland. We wanted to go and have a look around as it is where some of our grandparents hail from!

We covered 1,600 miles in 4 days… and our temperamental VW was very well behaved.

On our first day we sailed to Arran and met with two of my patients that were holidaying at the same time. We had a coffee and chat then sailed on to the Mull of Kintyre. The drive back to our base included Loch Tarbet and Loch Lomond.

We drove as far up as Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, where we had haggis and chips! On our journey home we drove cross country to visit the Rosslyn Chapel just outside Edinburgh. This very ornate, tiny but unique chapel was featured in the film The Da Vinci Code. It was beautiful and well worth a visit.

The highlight of our visit was going to Glen Coe and Glen Etive.

Both my boyfriend and I are great James Bond 007 fans so we located where Skyfall  was filmed in Glen Etive… the part where James Bond takes M to his family home! Stunning scenery, we took the picture exactly where the scene from the film was! The trees and the house from the film were computer generated, but the Glen is real!

Back to reality now, but I had a thoroughly brilliant time. :)
