Dental Implants by a specialist prosthodontist in Reading, Berkshire
Dental implants are probably the most significant advance in dentistry since the invention of the high speed dental turbine (drill).
Dental implants were initially invented to help the full denture wearer who had difficulty wearing conventional dentures. However, today the most common use of a dental implant is to replace a single missing tooth. Multiple dental implants can be used to rehabilitate the severely compromised dentition and can be used in conjunction with other dental treatments such as whitening, fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers, and dentures.
Dental implants offer a strong, permanent alternative to some of the common difficulties associated with traditional dentures.
- Are your dentures prone to slipping and sliding?
- Is chewing difficult?
- Is speaking embarrassing?
Then dental implants are made for you!
Dental implants are titanium anchors that are fused with the jawbone. They replicate the natural root structure of a tooth and provide a fit that is very secure and natural looking.
Our skilled team can provide you with a full range of treatments - from start to finish - in the comfortable, personable surroundings of Woodborough House Dental Practice.
We are especially experienced in computer guided dental implant placement. This treatment option is where implant dentistry is heading! We place virtual implants using 3D x-rays of your jaws. Then we have a template made that allows us to place the implants exactly where they were planned. The big advantage of this treatment is that often teeth can be placed immediately on the implant(s). Sometimes this can be done at times using flapless surgery.
We also provide immediate dental implants, immediate placement and restoration, teeth-in-an-hour, sinus grafting, bone grafting (augmentation), mini implants, ortho implants, over dentures, full mouth reconstructions, and management of complex multidisciplinary cases at Woodborough House Implant Clinic (part of woodborough House Referral Practice).
For most of our patients, dental implants will last a lifetime. They provide relief from the noticeable signs of ageing associated with premature tooth loss. Implants from Woodborough House blend naturally with existing teeth. Dental implants preserve the adjacent bone and gum tissue - these can often be worn down by conventional dentures and bridgework.
At Woodborough House we predominantly use Straumann dental implants.
Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Straumann are global leaders in implant and restorative dentistry and oral tissue regeneration. Straumann is the only company that offers surgical, restorative and regenerative solutions - from bone augmentation and tissue regeneration, through implants and prosthetics, to individualized crowns and bridges. Straumann employs approximately 1650 people worldwide and their products and services are available in more than 60 countries.
At Woodborough House Dental Practice, we prefer Straumann products because they are backed up by an excellent treatment system and long established company. Unfortunately, this is not always the case with some other dental implant systems. Another advantage is that you can get subsequent treatment from a Straumann provider almost anywhere in the world.
We have plenty of experience using other well known implant systems. If you already have dental implants, then they can usually be restored. However, if your referring dentist wishes, we can offer you an alternative system.
